By Jocelyn Davidson

Mobile homes have been around for a while and most people prefer them over the ordinary houses. Aside from the fact that they are cheaper and more convenient, they can also easily be moved from one place to another. However, this kind of house is not usually fitted for someone who is raising a family or people who have kids.

Mobile homes are usually made out of trailers. As a homeowner, you would want to be proud of your home and you do your best to make it look beautiful. One way to improve the appearance of your house is to install a skirting around it. There are many mobile home skirting kits that are available in the market. Sometimes, a mobile house is placed directly on the ground. But there are others who use blocks to elevate the house thus, leaving a space underneath it. To keep animals and other elements from entering the empty space, skirts are put up underneath it.

One of the usual material that is used in the skirting process is vinyl. It is a good material. The only drawback is that it is very common. And it has the tendency to look very boring and very plain.

One of the things that you need to do before you start installing skirts is to have the exact measurement the elevation of your house. The height and the width of the space that you need to covered are required information. Adding at least 2 inches as allowance to the height of the skirt is also suggested by most.

You also need to take precautionary measures for the pipes underneath the house. No matter how properly closed the skirting is, pipes will still freeze. You need to properly wrap it with insulations. You should also not forget to make vents when skirting. You do not want to have problems when it comes to moisture condensation so vents are always a must. It would also be good to have access doors with your skirtings.

If you want a durable yet cheap alternative for vinyl, tin is always the number one choice. It as the capacity to endure heavy weather. Most people prefer anodized tin to make the paint stick longer. When the paint wears off immediately, the tin becomes textured and it is not good to look at. A roofing tin that is galvanized is also a good choice for skirting.

If you want the durability to last longer than the other materials, you should go for cinder blocks. These were used long before in constructing houses. Although it is easy to install, it would take time and a lot of effort. But the sturdiness of this material is unparalleled. If you want extra insulation to secure the pipes this is also the material that you should use.

Pickets are not only used for fencing anymore. They can also be a skirting material that is affordable and would not take a long time to install. They are dainty and perfect for those who want to add beauty to their homes. Most pickets are made from wood that is resistant to harsh weather.
