Seeing as how there are many ways for works to be created, I am sure that no one can argue with the previous statement. However, it's important for art students to have an escape, whether it is directly related to art or not. If this is the case, though, you can be certain that writing can prove to be one of the finest escapes to get involved in during the long term.
To say that writing is able to be integrated into various topics would be an understatement. Let's say that you are someone who is heavy into game design; it's possible that stories can be created through writing skills. Marketing agencies will require writers as well, since the creation of content is done largely through effective writing. However, you have to consider that writing can serve greater purposes outside of professional matters.
When I was in school, I found myself doing little writing, at least in terms of creativity. I didn't exactly find this to be conducive, since even back then I was someone who enjoyed being creative, which means that most of my enjoyable writing was done outside of school. Everything from fiction to blogs detailing my own life were created. While they may not have gained many readers, at the very least I was able to convey my thoughts, since I couldn't so effectively in the social sense.
If you're looking to remain social with others, who's to say that writing cannot be utilized? Not everyone is able to engage in face-to-face conversation, which means that other avenues of engagement must be taken instead. Fortunately, writing can bring together like-minded individuals, seeing as how they will read material based on the interests they have. When this is done, conversation can be made more easily, thereby increasing the likelihood of networking being done well.

What makes it even better is that you do not necessarily have to be skilled in order to get involved in writing; you simply have to possess an idea and the drive to make said idea come to life.
