Contrary to working independently, being affiliated with a bigger organization introduces you to more potential clients as well. Of course, this does not mean that working independently is entirely a bad idea. There are many electricians who are successful as they are while working privately. But unless you have the skills and resources to promote yourself, better bank on a bigger name first.
