By Mattie Knight

It is a living organism and a type of fungus that grows well in moisturized surfaces, with warm conditions. These organisms cannot make their own food and therefore depend on organic substances to gain nutrients. There are many different kinds of mold. A good example is Rhizopus stolonifer which affects fruits and vegetables. Others include penicillium, aspergillius. The existence of these fungi in the environment is of great significance although has some side effects. Therefore, before deciding on the ways of controlling mold it is important also to know the main factors that support their growth. This includes food, temperatures and spores. Below are ways on how to get rid of mold.

Proper dry cleaning will help you control their growth. It is true that mold grow well in wet conditions. It is of great relevance then if you start by ensuring that all the dump sites are well ventilated. Ensure that you dry clean the surface properly to avoid dirt. Some of the most affected places that need proper care are the kitchen and bathrooms. You also need to high a qualified plumber in order to ensure that the plumbing systems are well fixed and with no leakages as this may contribute to the dump.

It is also very crucial to set up a mold catching filters within the air conditioning return vent. The filters will help you to ensure that none of these organisms get in your house. The fungal organisms will not thrive since there will be a reduction in number and hence reduction in growth rate.

They can also be controlled by use of bleaching agents. This works best on plates, stove, cookers and even on the floor. Working with bleaching agent requires safety measures like use of gloves and masks to ensure your safety as the user. Bleach works best on its own.

If you decide to go the natural way, I would refer you to go for vinegar. It is one of the best original ways of cleaning up the fungus and it is not limited to a specific place but you can use to clean your home. It is easier working with vinegar since you do not need to mix it with anything. You only need to apply on the fungi and give it sometime before cleaning it.

Fermented liquids and ethanol can also be used to serve the same purpose as vinegar. This advantage is that their smell is not as strong as that of vinegar. For example, alcoholic products such as spirits contain toxic substances that kill mold and inhibit their growth.

Lastly, existences of gaps on your floor or tile to be specific can hold water. This provides good conditions for the growth of tiny fungus. You need to refill the gap using a thin mortar in order to prevent further damages and destroying the conditions favorable for their growth.

These ways can be of great significance if well applied in our day to day activities. They help in ensuring the well being of our environment given that mold can be a serious threat to our lives. It causes diseases like skin irritation, allergies and can even lead to food poisoning.
