Things Not To Miss While At Belize Connection

By Dennis Miller

Everything tourism around the world must have had its origin in Belize. The Belize connection has awe-inspiring attractions that are situated a few miles apart. The collection is like none other around the world. It brings together natural scenery, historical sites, social amenities and activity invitations of all kind. All this is available at an incredibly affordable price that guarantees excellent value for money.

The Abergris Caye is an island that stretches 25 miles to the north. It offers excellent fun including snorkeling and diving. This is the access point to the barrier reef that surrounds the island. When tired of diving and visiting the reef, the town opens its arms with beach-side lounges, shops, restaurants and luxury hotels. The streets are cobblestone and filled with bicycles and golf carts in place of cars.

When UNESCO declared the Blue Hole a World Heritage Site, they were recognizing the spectacular caverns, rock formations and underground tunnels that define the area. This is a rewarding site for scuba divers who explore the calcium influenced walls of the hole. This area is teaming with aquatic life with April and May seasons offering the best experience. The hole allows you to experience life at 410 meters below sea level.

The Hol Chan Marine Reserve faces the south and encompasses three miles of a densely populated aquatic reserve. It is a sanctuary for sharks, eels and stingrays, among other aquatic creatures. This diversity in marine life offers an incredible scuba diving experience. There is an information center from where you will be briefed to ensure that you get maximum value during your visit. You can visit the reserve daily between 9am and 5 pm.

Caye Caulker is a quiet town 20miles from the city. The local inhabitants are very few. It offers excellent sporting and fishing opportunities with kayaking lovers and sailors having a field day. The split brought about by the 1960 Hattie Hurricane creates an enviable dynamic in the area. For those not interested water and related activities, there are shops, restaurants and hotels with great foods to sample. The town allows you to walk bare feet and experience freedom from gadgets and shoes.

Towards the direction of the setting sun sits a range of ancient Mayan dwellings. They are surrounded by tranquil butterfly gardens, rolling hills and verdant jungles. The town centering all these attractions is called San Ignacio and offers traditional dishes with a wide range of affordable hotels. The Caracol Archeological Reserve gives you an opportunity to witness the different stages of archeological excavations.

The Placencia allows you to stay longer along the Connection. It is the perfect Caribbean setting with calm waters and beach front villas. The wildlife sanctuary around teams up with the Monkey River to offer interactive moments with howler monkeys, crocodiles, iguana and boas. This is alongside the collection of ancient Mayan sites within the vicinity. You have a chance to enjoy the Creole or Kriol cuisine on offer.

The Belize City offers a rewarding climax, split into two by the Haulover Creek. There is a swing bridge that separates the North from the South. It is surrounded by Mayan ruins, cays and rural rain forests that will keep you away from the city. The area is affordable with sufficient transportation connection from anywhere around the world. You have sufficient access to global currencies and easy communication.
