The Truth About How Many Americans Are Unemployed

The rising cost of living has people working full time jobs and others working more than one job. However, there are so many people who are still unemployed. This is either due to the fact that they cannot work due to personal reasons or the are either under or over the age limit. Statistics show that there are 93 million unemployed Americans in the country, however, this includes various other citizens who do not work. So you might want to consider the following information the next time you ask about how many Americans are unemployed.

These statistics also include senior citizens who are retired and children who are in school. The figure also includes women who are stay at home mums and teenagers who are still in college and university. There are of course many people who don't work because they simply cannot find a job.

Not working can mean many things. There are many people who do not work for an company or business in their country but do remote work for people in other countries and they may be considered unemployed, however they do earn a living and an income. Then again there are those who do not have jobs and depend on social security to get by. These people are truly not working.

Citizens who are not working can be found all over the country and also all over the world. It is ow becoming or turning into more of a global issue as the number of people all over the world is growing at an alarming rate. So in actual fact, people are willing and able to work, yet the problem lies in the fact that there are no jobs for them.

Most people start working in their twenties. They obviously spend some time studying so they can get better paying jobs and positions, however, those who do not have funds to study choose to start full force in the working world.

In some cases women give birth and then choose to be stay at home mums because they want to look after their children. In other cases, the fathers decide to this this instead of the mothers and also to avoid the cost of child care. Elderly people also cannot work as they are old and want to be able to take life easy at this age. Students also want to educate themselves so they can find better jobs in the future.

Unemployment affects everyone, and not just the people who are unemployed. If a father is not working, then children also are affected by it at home. Some couples make a joint decision that one parent will work while the other stays home with the kids and if the working parent earns enough to support the family then it work out fine.

So when you think about the job situation in the country, think about all the reasons why people would be unemployed and you will see that things are not always as they seem and it is in fact quite a complicated issue, not to mention topic of discussion.
