For Stump Grinding Western WI Is Worth Visiting

By Walter Edwards

A stump is the remains of a tree that has been cut down. It is easier to cut down a tree than to remove a stump. That is part of the reason most people do not bother removing stumps after cutting down trees. It is however important to remove stumps because they can be a menace in a place. Removal becomes even easier if the correct procedures and tools are used. When in need of Stump Grinding Western WI is worth visiting.

Stumps need to be removed since they occupy a lot of space that can otherwise be used productively. They also make a place to be less visually appealing. For instance, it is a very bad sight to imagine a compound filled with stumps after several trees have been fell.

Before one decides to remove a stab there are a number of factors to be considered. It is usually easier to remove older tree stumps when compared to removing fresh stumps. It is also hard to remove stumps from deciduous trees since their roots go deeper into the ground. The size of the stab usually determines the method that will be used to remove it.

Stumps can be removed by using mechanical tools such as chainsaws, grinders, rakes and shovels. A grinder is used to grind the wood away completely or to a specified size. A shovel and a rake are used to clear off unwanted material around the stump. Places that cannot be accessed using a grinder are cut using a chainsaw. Grinders tend to throw off a lot of wooden chips when grinding, which makes it important to keep eyes protected.

Besides grinders, other tools can be used to remove stumps too. These tools are more suitable for use on small stumps. A chainsaw is used in cutting the stump on the upper part. A shovel is then used to remove the soil around the stab to enable one to reach the roots. An axe is then used to cut the roots until the stab becomes weak. A chain is then tied around the weakened stump for the stab to be pulled out. The pulling can be done using a truck.

Chemicals can also be used to remove stumps. After the upper part has been cut with a chainsaw, holes are drilled into the sides and the top of the stump using a drill. Potassium nitrate is then poured into the holes. This makes the stab spongy within a period of around six weeks before an axe is used to remove the stump.

Tree stumps can be removed by using kerosene or fuel. Holes should be drilled into the stump before filling it with fuel. It should then be lit and left for a week. The wood burns completely to leave behind white ash.

When using a grinder or burning it is easier to get rid of the ash and wood chip[s resulting from the process. It is difficult to get rid of a stump once it is removed while still intact. The benefits of hiring a service provider is that they usually carry the stab once they have removed it.
