Poetry understanding varies with the maturity of critical thinking. For the children, it is very complicated to understand some materials. Simple and straightforward rhyme schemes are employing during the writing of literature meant for the children. Meter and intonation can be used interchangeably in such poems. They are used to emphasis on the subject matter.

Numerous languages have different ways of developing the rhyme scheme for this art. In most languages, this is developed by the repetition of certain words. The timing of such words ensures that the sentence structure is slowly built on. A number of syllables can be used at the end of such sentences so as to bring out the repetition.

Special word patterns are very crucial in the development of poetry. Children often remember something very easily as long as it is commonly used and repeated for their brains to pick the patterns. Alliteration forms the basis of repetition. This then forms the basic rhyme scheme for the kids. Through the use of such structures, kids can easily pin-point various devices and easily remember what they are taught.

Poetry is mainly about compacting. A very long story is compacted into a shorter story. This is told through compact words. Breaking down of such stories is done while maintaining the original idea. The main flow of ideas is not lost through the compaction. Shorter stories are much easier to remember. Special features are added to the main story so as to make it more interesting during the retelling of the story. The subject matter is underlined by the special features in the shorter stories.

Most of poetry work is aimed at passing some message along. In most cases, such messages are not always straight forward. For the case of the children, the message is always very clear.
