Workers Today Need A Staffing Company

By Kristina Jenjen

Most job applications today are submitted online. In some ways this makes the process easier and in other ways it makes the process more difficult. Electronic resumes and cover letters are easier to trash than they are to read. Unless there is something about your resume that really makes it stands apart from the others, your chances of getting hired based on an online application are not good. To get noticed by employers today, you need a staffing company.

The staffing agency has its benefits for employers also. The process of hiring employees has become more than the human resources department can handle. Job applicants referred by a staffing agency have already had their skills verified, undergone a background check and been apprised of all the labor laws and rights.

Staffing agencies provide job seekers with a connection to employers. Submitting fifty resumes online may not merit even one interview. You cannot get hired without an interview, so all that time spent sending resumes was basically wasted time. Getting signed with a staffing agency will change all that.

When an agency hears about a vacancy they will look at their roster of clients, job seekers, and see if there is a good fit. If they find a good candidate, the agency will arrange an interview. If they do not find a good candidate, the agency will simply post the job online with some of the many search engines.

Job seekers who are already registered with an agency have the advantage over those who simply respond to a job posting on a search engine. They have the advantage because the agency has already screened them and is prepared to send them on interviews. Agencies have the connection to employers to arrange an interview. All else being equal, the job seeker registered with an agency will get the interview, and maybe the job. The unrepresented job seeker will do well to receive an email acknowledging that their application has been received.

There are three types of jobs you can get from an agency. You can be hired as a temporary employee, meaning you are hired for a short period of time. You can be hired as a temporary to permanent also known as a temp to hire. In this case you work as a temp for an agreed upon length of time, and if the employer is happy with your work, you may be hired as a permanent employee. In both of theses situations, you are working for the agency. The term agencies use for these types of positions is assignments. When an assignment is complete you are eligible for a new assignment.

Third is the direct hire or permanent hire. This means the agency acted as a recruiter and you are a permanent employee of the company. The company pays you, and your connection to the agency has achieved its goal.

Employment agencies are designed to find and fill job vacancies for mostly entry level positions. There is an agreement between the agency and the job seeker. Search engines are nothing more than an electronic bulletin board. Employment agencies give you an advantage over other applicants.
