Things To Know About Having Majorette Uniforms

By Sarah Long

The marching band for schools will not be complete if it does not have a colorful squad of majorettes. Most of the time, these are the best dressed members who perform to the tune of popular songs, anthems or marching tunes. The entire band is often made up of the youth, and they will have something to say about what they wear.

The choices for materials and designs are nothing short of amazing, and team designers might come up with innovative new styles especially for the occasion. Majorette uniforms are priced a step up from most other sports or player duds, but the dazzle they bring into the proceedings will be worth it. They are perfect pieces for high stepping and cheerful squads of ladies on a street roll.

Ideally, they are found at the front of the band, and even as the male members usually do the music, those who perform in time to eat are the visual stars of the parade. The costumes then are central to how they need to be out on the parade. The most dazzling ornaments are used, and they twinkle and shine at every step and turn.

Glittery things like sequins and gold dust often come with the show, and they are liberally sprinkled on designs for abbreviated wear over legwear like boots. They can be done with symbolism for the event being commemorated. Often, the costumes need to jibe with home teams, so that they can twirl their batons with pride for the home crowd supporting the march.

While glitter is everywhere, the dresses themselves are something special, made of sturdy materials and cut in current or classic fashion modalities. Often, the team itself will decide on the design, perhaps with the help of team experts and outfits that make the costumes for them. The costumes can all be part of school or town history, and the girls may keep them as mementos.

Blings and fringes are common in current practice, with the former having changed some design considerations creatively. Featuring all the bold and heraldic patterns for their home crowd, the dresses are often done in blocks of solid color, with matching fabric designs. And the young ladies need to have these costumes personally fitted.

Designs and styles, as previously mentioned, will be amazing, and can even have high fashion experts in to help create outfits. These are partly influenced by hip or party fashions and are partly sexy evening wear. A lot of people will agree how these costumes all create grace and elegance for any event so commemorated.

The tops, bottoms and legwear can be complemented by headgear or hair implements, batons and other accessories. Things like hats, signage, batons, shakos and small crowns will be made to complement the entire costume set. The more colorful everything is, the better it will be for wowing crowds and helping them cheer on the event and be positive about things.

The majorette team and its influence is major, to say the least, and the value they bring to the parade is something bands cannot do without. Uniforms, then, have to be at least colorful, often fashionable and iconic. And beauty should be a given, helping to turn occasions into great ones as the ladies perform for their folks.
