Some Easy Steps In Maintaining A Healthy Lawn

By Henry Ellis

Some say that a beautiful yard is a mirror to what is inside the house. Basically, the very first thing people saw before getting inside a house is the wide yard so it is equally necessary to tame it like how taking care of the interiors are done. However, for people that has no craft in gardening, it could be pretty tough to do that is why there are lawn maintenance Mundelein IL that is willing to do the maintenance stuff. But if an owner is patient enough to go through all the hassle then here are some tips that may help in installing and maintaining lawns.

A mindset where thinking that having a beautiful lawn is through investing in chemicals is basically wrong. The secret on it, is actually with the strategy and care done on the yards. Even careful watering and mowing as well as fertilization is already a great start as long as done exactly.

To start installing a brand new lawn, the area where to supposedly install should be prepared. That means, all the old grass that is around the corner are removed and pulled out. This will be a clean slate, nothing will be left on the ground. If grasses are pretty stubborn, using herbicides may be easier. But, try to follow the directions carefully for the quality of soil may be affected.

Once everything is clean and clear, improving soil quality shall be the next priority. Planting the grasses on an unhealthy ground would just lead to wasting time that is why this step is necessary before anything else. Water the ground for one week straight and let it still to moist out its surface.

Once the ground is back to its healthy texture, the next step would be on choosing the grass. It is important to think thoroughly what type of grass will be installed. This should be based on the type of soil and the climate, that way it can be easy for the owner to maintain it properly. A seed or sod may be used on this.

Now, once the seed type has been selected, it is time to install the lawns. It would be much easier if the area is divided into two sections. This will allow the task be even more manageable. In planting the seed, a lawn spreader then sow half of those seeds in a parallel pattern.

If it is a sod, then removing some inch on the surface of the soil is necessary. This will make the surrounding level by the end of it. Now, lay the sod at each end of all staggered rows like laying in bricks. And trim the edges at the end through a knife.

From this point, the maintenance shall start. In watering the seeds, there is ideally enough water to not dry the surface of soils but not too much that would wash the seeds away. For sod, it needs heavy watering because the water must reach the underneath part of the ground to make sure it is not dry.

No one is allowed to roam around the new installed lawn on its first week. If the grasses have grown enough, time to mow it. When mowing, the highest setting shall be set on mowers.
