By Barbara Reed

You will find vending machines in all sorts of locations. This illustrates the entire country has an urgent need for quick snacks, food, drinks and small items that can be marketed this way. If you are in the vending machine business, or wanting to begin this type of income producing business, you want to get your machines in a position that will draw attention away from all of the others around. You will want to find the best vending machine locations to make money for you.

There are many things that can be dispensed from a growing number of machines. The analysis you undergo should be to find what items are wanted and through which type of appliance. You do not stand much of a chance if you are trying to place a sandwich instrument in a fast food restaurant or a soda contrivance in a bar.

First, the machines, themselves, should be placed in a position that a lot of people pass by on a daily basis. You cannot sell anything to someone who does not pass by to see it. A visible location that people see when they come in and or when they leave is the best location, in whatever venue you finally settle on.

Game arcades and other places kids spend a lot of time is a great place for candy and soft drinks as they need a little help to stay focused. Inexpensive is the watchword here as kids do not have a lot of disposable income. Their parents will often give them change for snacks but only a small amount.

Some great places for candy, gum, snacks or even bottled water could be anywhere people have to wait for something to happen, such as waiting rooms for doctors or in hospitals. People are almost always waiting long periods for their appointments or for something to happen and they like to snack on something while they wait. That is one of the reasons people spend money on things hanging around shopping malls, waiting for others to show up.

Places where people come to get an oil change or their tires repaired or even rotated are often filled with those who are bored and need something to munch on. Coffee, bottled water and even something more substantial, such as a sandwich offering may go well. In these places, they will often sit for half an hour or more for even simple tasks to be performed and they are already in the mood to spend money.

If you can gain a position in a small, local airport, train station or bus depot, you would have access to many people coming and going. If you are offering some light snacks, reading material or drinks in travel type bottles, you might gain money on a consistent basis. Both of these may only be for a one time purchases, however, many people seeing your machine means many people getting the opportunity to do business with you.

All of the research you do for your vending business must go into finding out what people want. It must also focus down on where those people are and how can you interest them in your offerings. Finding that right mix of product, machine and promotional material, such as signage, colors and placement is critical in making money.
