Final Message That Are Said By Death Row Inmates Before Execution

By Patricia Burns

Criminality is a disease in any society. While it may not be rewarded, the most heinous crimes have warranted death to whoever does them. You would wonder what the last words of a criminal would be when they are about to get fried or injected with chemicals that can make their brains go limp and lungs crash on itself.

A state in the country that performs many executions would be Texas. With the last execution dating October 5, 2016 . All these are on their website. The final message Texas prisoners in the Hunstville unit have are all on the website and are recorded through a microphone hanging above the inmate while strapped in for the execution.

Some may choose to say nothing and there are others that either thank or apologize. There are a chosen few that say the most peculiar things. It is heartbreaking that these people, even if they were criminals, tell their parents and loved ones their last goodbye and their I love yous and these people would have to witness this criminal being killed right after. Morbid and heartbreaking, more like it.

It becomes very upsetting to think about how it must feel like being the relative of that who is about to be executed. It makes you question if the death of the criminal will bring relief to the family of the victims. This is a more common wish among the criminals to the victim families and loved ones, if they are present to watch the execution.

Most of their messages also involved God and other religious matters. They seem like they just all wanted forgiveness and an escape from the pain. Some inmates also showed their peaceful resolve with death. Ironically, there were never many mentions of hell and more were said about going to heaven and how they have found God.

The total number of recorded deaths in the Huntsville row since the very first back in 1982 is 538. Most of these people have made their peace about dying. There are many mentions about God and going to heaven, how much they love their families and hoping that the family of the victims find relief in their death. These people are probably present during their execution to watch something so gut wrenching.

Even in death there are still some people who choose to shed some humor. The 28 year old Vincent Gutierrez was said to be bipolar. The was charged guilty for car jacking and murdering a man in his late 40s. After saying his sentiments he asked where his stunt double was since this was the perfect time he had one. In his statement it seemed like he was referring to his brother.

This comical attempt does not make the matter any less morbid or sad. There were some cases that professed their innocence even when they were about to undergo lethal injection. Some make a final go at their convictions. A memorable statement was by someone convicted for murder and has confessed to 13 cases of rape. His name was Johnny Johnson.

With the number of experts that say this is not an effective method of deterring crime, maybe there would be some sense in reconsidering using ending a life as a form of punishment. After all, these are criminals who probably already know that death was part of the business they were in. With that premise, dying should not scare them from doing more criminal acts.
