Locating Denver Pool Table Refelting

By Edward Young

Pool is an extremely popular game and many bar rooms and homes around the world will have tables. Over a period of time the cloth or felt on the surface of the table will be subjected to accidental damage and the usual wear and tear. When the covering has become too badly damaged and worn you will need to look for denver pool table refelting and it is worth doing a little research beforehand.

There are a few places where you will find a firm to supply a fitter to do the refelting work. Phone numbers for companies are listed in the local directory and other businesses will advertise in the neighborhood. It may also be worth speaking to the firm that you purchased your table from and they may supply a fitter if they have one.

The web can also produce good results and there are many well established companies that advertise online. You can browse the web site to find out what services they offer and there will be a contact link to enable you to speak with them directly. Most web sites will have a testimonials page where you can read comments from previous clients which is always helpful.

Applying new cloth to tables is a very specialized job and should only be done by experienced and skilled fitters. The costs will vary depending on the type of felt that is to be fitted and the size of your table. After finding a company and accepting their quote you can make an appointment for a technician to come out and begin the work.

The first task will be removing the old felt in the correct way. The pockets also need to be removed and checked for any damage followed by the rails. The bed which is made from slate will then be inspected for any damage and cleaned. These slate beds need to be leveled and any chips should be filled with a wax resin or special putty.

You can use a couple of types of felt which is either a professional grade or standard club grade which will last longer. The cloth is carefully trimmed to size and stretched across the slate bed to ensure a flat surface. When the glue has set, the pockets and side rails can be recovered with the new felt, before being refitted and leveled.

When the refelting work is complete the final job is to check that everything is level and add the markings. Using a spirit level and shims will ensure that everything is level, playable and the pool balls will not roll off course. You can then inspect the finished results and pay the final bill.

All pool tables that are used daily use should be regularly inspected and kept in good playable condition. The felt should be brushed at least once a day and any dust from the chalk and other foreign bodies need to be removed. If the cloth suffers any tears, or gets damaged, it should be replaced before playing on the table again.
