How Many People Are Employed In America Is A Source Of Embarrassment To Many

By Larry Hall

There are a lot of people not working due to the economy in the United States. There are numbers that the government is providing people that may not actually reflect this reality as starkly as it is felt. One of the factors they use to determine the numbers they report is what is called the work force labor rate. It is lower than it has been since the 1970s, so the answer to the how many people are employed in America question is not as clear as it could be.

Approximately 320,000,000 people populate the United States. In 2007, the number of jobs available is about 143,000,000. That number has not stayed static and is currently much smaller. Some of the reasons are an aging of some segments of society and others have to do with businesses going out of business due to harsh regulations by federal officials.

You will find that, in 2017, the unemployment number is reported as being about five percent. That would be fine if people see this in everyday communications with friends and family. Questions about whether this is just a number reported to get more votes run rampant through your mind.

The administration that is in the White House, whenever the number is reported to the public, is the agency that comes up with the number. The mathematics that goes into that number is suspicious at times. Different administrations will use different criteria to make that number up.

A good number of about 138,000,000 jobs being available takes into consideration about 95,000,000 people out of work. This is the number of people who have been fired, laid off or quit and are not even trying to find work. They have been told that many of the jobs that are no longer there will not be coming back. This information is coming from an administration that is often waging a war against companies through regulations and taxes.

If the current unemployment rate is, indeed, five percent, 160,000,000 people should be working. As it stands, this is not the case. Especially when you factor in the workforce labor rate and those unable to work for other legitimate reasons, such as medical, that number of people working falls far lower that the officially published numbers.

The real problem in making sure that any numbers are accurate is because of what are called bias jobs. This name is given to a number made up because of a desire to give a positive spin on the economy and what the politicians are doing. They say that, for everything they are doing, there are so many jobs that just have to exist regardless of reality.

The reasons that many politicians lie about these employment numbers is that they really do not know the right ones. They use different methods for figuring them out and do not know what it takes to create a job or how they are kept. The things they do that they think is so good for business and those who create and retain the jobs that are retained only hurt those businesses so the numbers they do not know only go down all of the time.
