Charities For Jamaica Have Greatly Helped Society

By Scott Johnson

The world is beset with problems from east to west. Jamaica is not immune from problems. It is just like any other third world country that has to struggle with a myriad of social problems. There are challenges in the area of housing, elderly care, schooling and health care among many other areas. Charities for Jamaica work with Jamaicans and foreigners to address some of the issues that beset the Jamaican society. These organizations are able to deliver much needed assistance because of donors from different countries of the world.

Educating underprivileged children is important. It is through getting a good education that people can overcome poverty. An educated person can easily find opportunities for improving his life. In some places, people do not have access to educational facilities. There are also places that have poorly equipped facilities. When there are such challenges, there will be a viscous circle of poverty. That means that society will remain in poverty.

There are charitable organizations that are helping in the field of education. They are doing so through constructing more schools. Constructing a school is not an easy thing. A good deal of money is needed so that to purchase construction materials. When a child is educated an entire village is educated because the educated person will end up empowering others.

Constructing a school is just one side of the equation. The school will need to be equipped in the best manner possible. Students cannot stand when they are learning. They require desks so that they can learn in a comfortable way. Chalks, pens and books are also required. Students require reading materials. Computers are also becoming increasingly necessary in the world.

People need clean water. Actually, water is life. Many people do not have access to clean water. Water is even more essential than food. A person can live for more than one month without food but only for some days without water. There are charity causes that bring water to underprivileged Jamaican communities. Animals also need to have water.

Heath is a priority. Actually, health is wealth. However, there are millions of Jamaicans who do not have access to healthcare. In some places, people are dying of diseases that could easily have been prevented or treated. Malaria is a leading killer in the developing world. Other killers include typhoid and diarrhea. People are also dying of HIV/AIDS and different cancers.

There are Jamaican charities that deal with the treatment and prevention of illnesses. Some organizations send doctors to poor societies, who offer free medical services. In some cases, hospitals are built using charity monies. Charities are also contributing in disease prevention. Sexual transmitted diseases can be prevented if people avoid unsafe sex. Mosquito nets help in the prevention of malaria.

Charity organizations are not only helping African and Asian countries. There are also helping countries in the Caribbean that have been beset with poverty and other societal challenges. Charity work costs a lot of money. Charitable causes depend on the generosity of people, all over the globe. One can donate in cash or in kind. All contributions are usually appreciated.
