The Advantages Of Membership In An HOA

By Amy Stewart

There are a lot of caveats to keep in ones mind before he settles for and moves in on a particular establishment. Among such considerations include the restrictions and conditions of that particular place. That said, these are usually set by Meadowridge HOA.

A homeowners association is a kind of group formed upon entering a lease or purchase into a certain developers property. Membership is more often than not required after a householder commences ownership of a particular lot. This establishes a concrete form of association with and belongingness to a particular neighborhood.

Its not uncommon to find HOAs in certain kinds of subdivisions and neighborhoods, and they are more often than not universal in some upscale developments like condominiums and some such. Their purpose is to regulate and maintain the collective identity of the community, and also carry brainchild activities into fruition. Theyre very much effective in bringing about the enforcement of some or other rules, regulations, and bylaws.

A homeowner association is usually subject to state statutes, very much the same to non profit organizations. In return of membership, a homeowner becomes a stakeholder and is therefore permitted to take part in the associations governance and also be able to use the amenities and benefits offered. All these provided, of course, if the said member is up to date with his assessments. This membership desists after one ceases to be the owner of a particular home or lot.

Anyhow, certain kinds of regulations are upheld to keep these ideas enforced once the leasers and buyers start pouring in. This is why HOAs in their inception usually starts with a developer elected board of directors. The owner may or may not partake his place in this directorial board. Anyhow, as time goes by and numerous leasers keep moving in, the membership usually and overwhelmingly devolves to HOA members.

That said, there are a host of things prospective home buyers should do before settling in on a certain house and lot. Reading the condition of purchase is a tiptop consideration. It is in that document where you find out if youre slated to be part of the HOA in case you buy a particular property.

The homeowners association is answerable in providing certain activities and amenities. It may also regulate activities within the development. Conditions, covenants, and restrictions and some such documents also outline the rules within the subdivision. For example, there may be a requirement on the minimum sizes of dwellings, or something like that.

Also, there are conditions prohibiting certain animals, only allowing a limited selection of household pets. Or else, the HOA may prohibit conducting commercial and other business activities in your lot, so that the function of the neighborhood may be for strictly residential only. A fee is usually levied upon the members, and the proceeds of which usually go to activities and projects that cater to common interests like parks, swimming pools, signage, and other forms of maintenance.

Because of their extensive list of bylaws and conditions, plus their mandatory membership and accordingly obligatory fees, its common for HOAs to be frowned upon by some. Needless to say, they also have their champions and supporters. Howsoever, what to keep in mind is the motley of considerations to take into account before one goes on to settle in a particular house and neighborhood.
