New Student? The Tablet For You

By Hedrick Lepsch

If you have decided to go to school to become a nurse, congratulations! Nurses do a lot of good around the world to help and heal those who are sick and injured. Nurses are also in high demand all around the world. This means that if you become a nurse, getting a job will most likely be quite easy.

The responsibilities of being a married parent are themselves great, and when a person adds to those responsibilities the duties of returning to school for a business degree, graphic arts degree, or whichever academic program they choose can seem insurmountable. But there is hope for those individuals who wish to return to school while taking care of and providing for their family.

First, what is your favorite note-taking style? A lot of the younger generation now prefers to type out notes rather than writing them by hand with paper and pen. It's faster, more organized, legible, and easily stored. But there are still plenty of people out there who prefer note-taking on paper.

At the beginning of the semester, make a plan as to how you're going to study throughout the semester. Making a plan includes many steps. One of the steps could be reading the syllabi for each of your classes and making sure you fully understand all of the material that is written there. Writing down each of the due dates for your assignments and all of your test dates in a daily planner is also going to be very beneficial.

Getting the whole family involved in one's education is another great way to get through school while married with children. Getting the family involved in one's education could mean encouraging children to do their homework while working on one's own homework or by turning homework into a family activity by dividing out small assignments to everyone.

This brings us to point number two. What would you use your tablet for? Some surveys suggest that most students use their tablets mostly for accessing educational apps, note taking, web surfing, entertainment, and social networking. Do you already do all your web-access via smartphone and laptop? Will having a tablet make redundant your already-purchased expensive gadgetry? Will having all that at your fingertips distract you in class? Or will it guide your studies and enhance your learning experience? Do an honest self-evaluation and think about how you would use your tablet and if it would improve or detract from your education.

Paying attention in class is one of the most basic, yet one of the most important things you can do as a nursing student. As you're paying attention, make sure that you're taking good notes. There are several things you can do to make sure you're taking good notes. One thing is to organize your notes by heading.

Another suggestion to get one through their degree program is to take time to remember why one is doing what they are doing. By understanding that upon completion of the degree and following graduation one will be able to better support their family and give extra benefits to the entire family, they will be better able to persevere through the more difficult times.

So remember, self-reflect, experiment, and save yourself a lot of money and frustration by picking the tablet fit for you!
